Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a very sticky situation, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, gum eventually changes into a black smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and customers coming into a store or office will step on the chewing gum and track it in all over your carpets, rugs and mats. Then it’s forced deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else in your building.
We are proud to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Grand Rapids MI. Find more information about our process below:
The best methods of removing chewing gum from concrete depends on the gum’s age and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it has not penetrated the surface, we might be able to get it off by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable substance compared to a gooey and stringy mess. Once that happens, we slide a putty knife or scraper directly under the gum. Then we slide the scraper very slowly under the gum and the whole piece should peel right off the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal service, we don’t use very high pressure because that might damage the surface of the concrete!
Our pressure washers never uses any more pressure than necessary to safely clean commercial concrete. These types of surfaces can be damaged much easier than people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional chewing gum removal professional.
To remove chewing gum from sidewalks and other commercial surfaces we use specially designed hot water power washing tools and professional-grade soaps that allow us to clean the surface without causing any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure, we safely remove gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our process will also destroy bacteria and viruses that are found in gum.
